Sometimes we need help when we don’t understand the medical bills we receive or the services we are about to have and how that will impact us financially.  Empowering the Patient offers one-on-one time with you over the phone or computer to understand what happened, your concerns and guide you to next steps. It’s a complicated system out there and we are in your corner!

Calling insurance companies and healthcare providers can be frustrating because you need help and they don’t seem to know how to help you! Empowering the Patient can help by getting on the phone with you, guiding the conversation between the necessary entities, and working towards the appropriate resolution for the situation.

Work with the patient to contact their insurance carrier, medical provider or hospital to clarify concerns, dispute bills, or help negotiate reductions.
• 3 way calling to remediate or clarify potential mistakes on bills received from healthcare entities, this would include but is not limited to interaction with insurance companies, medical providers, and third-party vendors
Policy Review

Insurance policies are complicated, and each year we select a new one or our existing one changes, and we aren’t sure what’s going to be best for our family.  Empowering the Patient can help you understand what matters most to you and your family and outline the pro’s and con’s. In addition, understanding the financial impact and gaps that exist within the policies are extremely important so that you aren’t caught off guard with surprise bills when you utilize the policy.

Coding Review

Coding mistakes happen all the time, no matter where you receive services and those codes have a price attached with it.  In addition, if a service isn’t documented in your record, then the insurance company deems that service not chargeable to them or you.  Empowering the Patient offers you access to certified coders who will review your medical record, compare it to the bill the healthcare entity sent to the insurance company, the bill you received and determine its accuracy.
